Should brow lift surgery and a blepharoplasty be perfomed together?

At my consultation, the doctor said I should do a brow lift and a blepharoplasty at once, if I want optimal aesthetic results. He said it would take years from my face if I chose to have them both. Is this common?

My plastic surgeon recommended a combined blepharoplasty and eyebrow lift. My age made me a good candidate for this combination (I'm 45). Your surgical plan will be designed to match your cosmetic goals. If your eyelids are drooping and you would like to have your eyes lifted and looking their best, you may want to have the combined surgery done.

My surgeon hid the incisions in the crease of my upper eyelids and inside my lower eyelids, and no one can tell I had the surgery. The recovery time was relatively pain free and aftercare is similar for both operations, which allowed me to have a double treatment done without extending my recovery or time off work. My eyes look great and I look younger and less tired. I feel like the surgery was a launching pad for my future because I'm looking and feeling attractive and more youthful.

I combined eyelid surgery and an eyebrow lift. During my consultation with my board certified plastic surgeon, I explained my concerns about my appearance, and he gave me some options based on my cosmetic desires. The best way for me to improve my appearance was to have the surgeries done together. The recovery time is very similar to both operations and the aftercare instructions crisscross. My surgeon combined the surgeries so that I was only recovering from one surgical procedure instead of having to complete separate surgeries months apart.

My eyes are now less droopy, and I look younger and more alert. Lifting my eyebrows alone would've only emphasized my aging eyelids, and just treating my eyelids wouldn't have been useful if my eyebrows were drooping. I had the excess skin on my lower eyelids removed through the inside of my lower eyelids, so I don't have any scars, and my plastic surgeon was able to hide the incisions that he made in my upper eyelid in the natural creases of my lid. I'm pleased with my results, and I'm thankful I did both surgeries at the same time.

Having both surgeries together is more common than having them done at separate times. I had the eyebrow lift and eyelid lift performed during the same surgery and it greatly rejuvenated and reshaped my eyes. My surgeon showed me before and after photos of other patients so I could understand what it would look like if I only had one procedure done instead of combining both in one surgery. After looking at the pictures and learning about the recovery, it made more sense to combine the surgeries and the recoveries. It absolutely took years off of my face and I have a more youthful appearance.

If I had only raised my eyebrows without completing blepharoplasty, my lower eyelid skin would still have been wrinkled and aging. Combining the surgeries was important because during the recovery time, I was required to keep my head raised at all times to reduce swelling and I had to wait a least 24 hours before taking my first shower. I also had to limit or avoid watching TV and reading for the first 48 hours, while keeping cold compresses on my eyes for the first few days to keep the swelling and bruising down. Combining the two surgeries allowed me to get the results I wanted without having to repeat these requirements during a second surgery and miss additional time from work.

As I got older the skin of my lower eyelid and brow started to drop. I scheduled several consultations with more than one surgeon and was told that I should combine the two procedures. I was already concerned about the invasiveness of the procedures, so I was concerned as to whether combining them would be a good thing.

The three surgeons I spoke to said basically said that setting the brow lift would lessen the need to remove the skin from my upper eyelid. The surgeon I choose started with the brow lift surgery first. I saved money by combining the procedures. I also didn't have to endure multiple recovery periods. Of course, as with all surgical procedures, make sure you use the services of a skilled surgeon.

The human eyes are our primary facial features, the one that make our first impression and control so much of our lives. We all want to appear as vivacious and youthful as possible but aging makes this difficult. Overtime, our skins begin to show the wear and tear of sun damage and getting older. I think the reason why your plastic surgeon told you that you should get both is because you are looking for a cosmetic outcome. Nonetheless, there isn't a definitive answer to your question because your surgery should be personalized to your needs. If you're doing multiple surgeries, the risk for complications increases and one surgery can worsen the outcome of another. Also, the recovery time may be longer. It's not advised to do multiple surgeries together, so please discuss with your surgeon whether there is a way you can find a middle ground given that the eyes are such prominent and noticeable facial features.
