Is it possible for coffee to cause cellulite?
How would that happen? Is it because of the water retention or it's something else entirely? I drink a ton of coffee every day but I never thought this could be one of the reasons I've got cellulite. I get a headache if I don't drink coffee in the morning. Is there any reason to worry? Please tell me there's not.
I have never heard of coffee causing cellulite. I’ve actually heard that it’s supposed to help get rid of it. I got all of my cellulite from being overweight and not exercising. Then again, I also have a friend who has always been as skinny as a toothpick, and she has it all over her thighs and tushy I don’t think that cellulite is so much about body fat as it is about the plushness of your skin. If you have dry skin, then just like leather, it will begin to shrink and crack. I also think if you don’t maintain a certain amount of firmness behind your skin, then your soft muscles will form cellulite that will still show through even the most hydrated of skin. My friend doesn’t really work out either, so I think that lack of daily blood flow can cause cellulite.
I am a heavy black coffee drinker, and I have never had the problem of gaining cellulite from drinking it. The caffeine within coffee is actually supposed to speed up your blood circulation which will cause your skin to smooth out. It has been my experience that cellulite will start to appear if massive amounts of weight have been gained. A severe lack of elastin within the skin is also responsible for promoting cellulite. After I begin using a healing lotion on my skin every day, I noticed that I did not have as much cellulite as I did before. I also noticed that using cellulite creams has taken care of most of my old stretch marks as well!
I'm pretty sure there's no link between caffeine intake and cellulite. My cellulite was actually worse before I started drinking coffee, because I weighed more back then. The textured appearance of cellulite is basically just a combination of fat deposits and the way your skin is constructed. There's these thick fibrous bands of tissue that stretch through body fat to connect skin to the muscles. They tend to pull down tightly, bunching up the fat cells you have and making cellulite appear. I don't think there's any way for coffee to really affect how your skin and fat cells are layered. In fact, it might actually help to reduce the appearance of cellulite since caffeine is a diuretic that makes the body flush water. If you are worried about it, you could always just slowly reduce the amount of coffee you drink to cut back on caffeine without getting headaches.
I’m a pot of coffee per day drinker and I know that my cellulite wasn’t from just drinking coffee. My cellulite came from the sugar and flavored creamers that I dumped in my coffee every day. It also came from eating high fat foods and being a couch potato. A friend told me that coffee dehydrates you and makes cellulite worse, so I started drinking 8 glasses of water a day and I started to notice a difference in my skin. My cellulite looked less obvious too. Then I realized that if I cut back on the fatty creamer and sugar in my coffee (and in everything else) plus getting on a regular exercise schedule, I could lose weight and the cellulite. I still drink lots of coffee, but my cellulite is gone!
