Are there any safe do it yourself chemical peels?

Not that I don’t want to go to a doctor’s office, but I was just wondering if there are any do it yourself chemical peels out there that are proven to be safe and effective? There are at home facial and hair removal products, so if there aren’t already chemical peel options, I assume they will eventually be available. No?

Low level acetic acid and lactic acid peels are sometimes sold over the counter to consumers, but they are less effective than higher concentrations used in the hands of trained plastic surgeons.  Also, they are not 100% risk free, so make sure you do your homework if you take the do-it-yourself approach

I have been seeing a significant increase in patients coming into my office with burns after using a peel they bought on line.  Some of them have actually scarred their faces.

It appears that the peels are either not applied correctly or the peels are significantly stronger then stated.

Using a well know brand and following the directions closely may make this process safer.
