Breast Firmness 2 Months Post-Op
I had a subglandular breast augmentation 2 months and 1 week ago to fix tuberous breasts. My doctor had to create a breast fold for me as well. 290 CCs moderate on both sides. My right breast has become nice and soft to the point where it doesn't feel like there is an implant there. My left breast (initially the smaller one), however, feels like a ball under my breast tissue. It can move around and I can mold it a bit. But it's definitely harder. When I apply pressure to the left, it feels like a ball and when I apply to the right , the implant flattens out a bit. The roundness beneath my nipple with my left breast has also not come along nicely and seems flat-ish.
My plastic surgeon never told me to massage my breasts or anything like that. But I wore a compression bra 4 weeks after the surgery and exercise with it on.
I can't consult my doctor at the moment because she has been in and out of hospital with a burst appendix. Should I be worried that this is capsular contracture? Or is there some other cause?
It definitely sounds like your are developing a capsular contracture. Augmenting tuberous breasts can be very tricky and, unfortunately, capsular contracture is very common when implants are placed in the subglandular space. I recommend following up with your plastic surgeon when she is back to work after her appendix issue to evaluate you and discuss your options going forward. Unless you are in pain, it is unlikely that anything surgical would be recommended before 6 months postop. You can also consult with other plastic surgeons or start a consultation here on Zwivel to get multiple opinions before going in for a full consultation.
