Can I Change the Size and Shape of my Areolas with Minimal Scars?

My areolas need to be adjusted. I am 33 and am personally frustrated with how they look and have finally gotten to the point where I am seeking medical assistance. However, if I get a procedure will I have scarring? What is the point in fixing them if there will be visible scarring? Any advice would be awesome.

Typically, the scars can be hidden at the periphery of your areola where the darker skin meets the lighter skin.  Then, you can hopefully avoid very obvious scars.  Without pictures, it is hard to tell you exactly how this would be.  But if you go in for a consultatation with a PS, you should be able to find out what the options are and what the realistic expectations are.  Then you can make an informed decision about whether or not it is worth it for you.  Best of luck!

There is no way to change the shape of your areolas without surgery -- and all surgery will leave scars.  Surgery can reduce the areolar diameters and, if necessary, elevate nipples that might be too low.  The good news is that all scars fade eventually, leaving you with the benefits of the procedure.

Best to consult with a board certified plastic surgery for an opinion.  Good luck!
