Can I go to the gym after breast augmentation?

Let me start off by saying I am a very active person. I go to the gym for nearly 2 hours every single day. Taking a day off from the gym is a big deal to me. I am contemplating having a breast augmentation in the next 6 months, as that has been the one part of my figure I have always disliked. My only concern is the amount of time I would have to take off from the gym. How quickly would I be able to return to working out after my breast augmentation?

I will allow patients to go back to the gym to do light aerobics within about 3-4 weeks.

Thank you for the question. I understand your concern about avoiding the gym after breast augmentation but it is necessary for at least 3 weeks. The reason for that is the pocket made for the implant could possibly bleed leading to emergency surgery to treat a hematoma. You are better off taking it easy at first and gradually increase activity to minimize any complications.

Best of luck!

Hi-

I recommend my patients to abstain from any aggressive exercise for 3 -6 weeks following breast augmentation depending on how they are healing. You will want to give your body time to heal to not compromise your result. Good Luck!
