Can I have a tummy tuck and BBL at the same time?
Now that I'm done having children, I'm thinking of giving my body a lift and returning my figure to what it once was. Is it possible to have a Brazilian butt lift and a tummy tuck at the same time?
I would not do the tummy tuck and the BBL at the same time. I know some surgeons will do that, but I STRONGLY advise against it. For a BBL, you need to lie on your stomach or side for 2 weeks (with the exception of sitting on a special pillow for short periods of time). This is not possible to do if you have a tummy tuck. For a tummy tuck, you need to sit in a beach chair/flexed position. This is not possible if you have a BBL. Doing them both at the same time significantly decreases your chances of a good outcome and increases your risk of complications. Therefore, whenever the 2 procedures are performed, I always do the BBL first so I can use the fat from the abdomen, and then the tummy tuck at a second stage.

The BBL and Tummy Tuck can be combined in the same operative session. I have been doing this combined procedure for more than 15 years.
Since this procedure is more than 8 hours, I perform it only under IV Sedation, instead of General Anesthesia. By doing so, we greatly reduce the risk of pulmonary embolism associated with long General Anesthesia cases. With IV anesthesia you are breathing on your own, rather than a machine (General Anesthesia) breathing for you.
With the recovery, I do require my patients to lay only on their stomach, as I do not want them sleeping on the newly grafted buttocks area (the BBL) for 2 weeks. In the hundreds of procedures that I have performed, laying on the abdomen does not compromise the recovery of the Tummy Tuck.
This is a fantastic combination procedure that transforms the body. My pre-op requirements are no smoking for approximately 1 month prior to the procedure, and you must have a BMI less than 35, assuming you are healthy.
Good luck and be sure to use a surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery!

Do people have a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift at the same time? The answer is yes. However, we do not advocate for it.
The thinking behind doing both a BBL and tummy tuck combination is that it will reduce your overall cost, the operative time, and the overall recovery time.
The problem is that each procedure done by itself causes post-op issues. After you've had a tummy tuck, you will need to sit in a chair or lie in an upward position on a bed. Obviously if you're prohibited from laying on your back because you've also had a Brazilian butt lift, chances are you'll be struggling to find a comfortable position to rest. As rest and healing are important parts of the recovery process -- and you need to be acutely aware for the first two weeks -- you may need to help during that initial period to aid with your basic activities.
Another reason people choose to have the procedures done separately -- and we recommend that you do the BBL first -- is that the fat for a buttock augmentation is typically harvested from your abdomen (as well as thighs, etc.). This draining of fat may help shrink your stomach so that in the future you'll have a better idea, as the surgeon will, of the areas to target for your tummy tuck.
I'm sure you will be able to find plastic surgeons prepared to do both procedures at the same time. Please make sure that you ask them directly about the difference in both cosmetic procedures, as well as the recovery time and amount of post-op discomfort you'll be in. Most experienced professionals in this field will have a good idea of the pros and cons of these surgical procedures.
You can do a Brazilian butt lift (butt lift surgery) at the same time as a tummy tuck, but we do not recommend it in our practice. There are probably a lot of board-certified plastic surgeons that would agree.
There are a few reasons why you would not do these cosmetic surgery procedures in combination with one another. One of the main reasons is the recovery process. To properly heal from a BBL, you need to lie on your stomach for ten days to two weeks after the procedure. If you have a tummy tuck at the same time as butt augmentation (BBL), you will be limited to resting on your left or right side and will need assistance the first week or so as your body deals with the swelling, bruising, post-surgery pain, etc. while your movements are still limited.
If you are looking to have both plastic surgery procedures performed, I suggest that you go with the Brazilian butt lift first. In this way, fat from the abdomen can be harvested to inject into your buttock. Then, after a suitable recovery period, you and your plastic surgeon can decide if and when you want to do the tummy tuck portion of your makeover, depending on the shape of your abdomen, excess skin, etc.
Kimberly Henry has 4 Mommy Makeover before & afters:
While it is feasible to have both procedures at the same time, I usually recommend doing the BBL first to harvest the maximal fat and allow the patient's abdominal skin to retract and declare how much excess is present, and to allow the procedure to be done in a reasonable number of hours for a proper and safe recovery. I also agree that it is ideal to position the patient in such a way as to take pressure off the surgical site, which you can't do if you are trying to protect both the abdominal skin incision and the BBL injection sites. Some surgeons combine this but I find that it usually means they are compromising on the extent of fat grafting they do in order to safely keep the procedure under 6 hours or so.
