Can you get a Breast Augmentation Through the Belly Button?
Please say it isn’t so. Can you really get a breast augmentation through your belly button? There is no way that is possible, is there? Your talking a good foot of distance between your breasts and your belly button. What type of path is there to even get the implants where they need to go? I just can’t believe that people are actually having this done. So weird…
It is possible but it is difficult to control where the implant is placed and it can be hard to control bleeding from an incision so far away. Most doctors perform augmentation through an incision on the lower portion of the areola or through an incision in the inframammary fold.

Are you asking because you are interested in breast augmentation?
The answer is yes, there is a technique called TUBA (Trans-umbilical breast augmentation) that can be done to place saline implants. It is not generally appropriate for silicone implants. Most plastic surgeons (including me, who actually took the training course in this technique from its inventor) do not offer this procedure as it can be very hard to safely control the breast pocket and place implants from this approach. The approach uses a dissecting device to create a pathway for placement of a balloon expander to stretch the pocket, and then the implants can be placed and the saline filled through a long tube which is then removed. However, if the plane of dissection is not properly under the muscle you can get improper implant placement. There is also the potential need to open a normal incision near or on the breast if there is bleeding or other issues come up that are normally easily managed from an inframammary or nipple incision.
