Concerns about post-op tummy tuck complications

20 days ago I had tummy tuck surgery and now I have swollen abdomen. I feel like there is liquid gathered in there. At my last consultation, the doctor tried to take out the liquid with a syringe and what came out looked like black blood. He told me not to worry it and that with time all would be ok. Is black blood normal? Think I should see another doctor?

It can happen that some "old" blood remains after surgery and needs to be removed with a syringe.  If it is still swollen, then you should check with your PS again to see if there is something else that needs to be drained.  I don't think you need to see another doctor at this point.  Also, it is not usually a very dangerous problem, so your PS should be able to help you through it without any long term issues.  Best of luck!

From your description it sounds like you have old blood/hematoma that is now liquified and should be aspirated or drained as your surgeon is doing
