Do Smokers Face More Complications After a Mid-Facelift?

I read somewhere that smokers have way higher chances of experiencing complications after surgical procedures done on their face. Is it true? I've been smoking for over 20 years. Would it help if I switched to nicotine gum right before the procedure and for a while after the surgery?

Thank you for your question. Smoking is a risk factor for all surgeries in terms of the recovery time. It is also risky for mid-face lift. But midface lift surgeries have less risk in comparison with classic face lift surgeries. No smoking anyway after and before the surgery is beneficial for the result and your health condition.
