Does an Endoscopic Brow Lift Cause A Lot of Pain?
Throughout my life people have told me that I have a low tolerance for pain. The endoscopic brow lift is next on my list but how painful is it? Based on the standard 1-10 pain scale I cannot really deal with anything more than a 5. If this procedure is more than that I will have to pass. Please be very honest. I do not want to get a consultation if the surgery is just too painful.
Hi, I have performed many Brow Lifts over the past 30 years. In my humble opinion, the Coronal Brow Lift remains the "gold standard" for lifting the eyebrows as unlike the endoscopic technique, it does not rely on suspension techniques to hold up the eyebrows. Fixation methods can and do fail which will result in one or both eyebrows drooping.
As far as pain levels go, in my humble experience pain is all over the map based on the individual patient, the experience of the Brow Lift Surgeon (longer surgery times will result in exponentially increased swelling..which may cause added discomfort) and the complexity of the procedure (how much scalp is removed etc.). My advice would be to wait until you can't stand your low eyebrows (and resultant full upper eyelids) at which time you'd be more inclined to endure any post op discomfort. You could spend a few days at an aftercare facility that would be capable of managing the pain which in most cases is more like a 2-3 on a 10 point scale. However, you could be in more or less discomfort..there's just no way to know in advance.
Hope this helps.
There is another possible treatment for low set brows: the direct brow lift. This is a long, narrow removal of a strip of skin just above the eyebrows. It can be used to correct uneven brows. There is minimal pain and there is rapid healing with minimal swelling.
The downside is a permanent scar which runs just above the eyebrow hairs. It fades to white over time and of course can be covered with make-up. It is a quick and oftentimes useful technique when the other techniques (coronal brow lift or endo brow lift) are not appropriate for some reason.
