Does PRP for Hair Loss Work?

Does Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) hair loss therapy work? I've read mixed reviews online about it. A family member of mine is a dermatologist and she says that she has not heard any overly promising studies on the successful use of PRP alone for hair loss. She has read in medical literature that PRP in conjunction with hair transplantation improves the outcome, but by itself, PRP alone is still inconclusive. I have mild temporal hair loss and do not need or want a hair transplant but I'm considering PRP. What are your thoughts doctors? Thank you very much for your time. It's greatly appreciated.

Hair loss has many origins.  First have a formal evaluation and work up by a hair transplant surgeon to make sure that the hair loss is not due to hormone imbalance or other reversible problems.  I agree that PRP in conjunction with hair transplantation improves the outcome of the transplanted hair, but by itself, PRP alone is still inconclusive. FUE hair transplant is well tolerated to increase density in small areas without incisions.  Do your homework and seek a cosmetic surgeon who will spend time with you to discuss your options and goals.
