Does Swelling and Numbness last long After Facelift?

I have a big social event coming up in about 10 months and want to make sure that I time out my facelift correctly. How long does the swelling and numbness usually persist after the procedure? Is there any else that has to settle in that I should be considering afterwards?

10 months is a pretty good timeline. I usually advise my patients to not have surgery on a visible body part (visible with clothing) any closer than 6 months before an event as healing takes a while. Ten months is quite appropriate and you should be well healed by then barring any required revision which is only necessary in about 5-10% of facelift patients, usually for something like a scar touchup.

A modern facelift involves work on the deep underlying soft tissue framework of the face as well as the skin. Depending on the patient fat grafting is used to blend aesthetically deflated regions of the face. In my experience after 2 weeks patients are able to attend social functions. Even though swelling and full scar maturation takes 3-6 months to mostly resolve, many patients have no issues being socially active at 2-3 weeks post procedure.
