I am a bit overweight and have always had a pudgy face. Is it possible to have liposuction to remove some of my facial fat? If it is possible, what are the chances of me being left with an uneven face?
There are some new promising minimally invasive techniques to address the pudgy face. Off-label Kybella or injection fat dissolving can help decrease jowls and improve the jawline - but it comes with 4 days of swelling. Another promising device is the 'Agnes' device which uses hand controlled RF microneedling to precisely decrease unwanted fatty areas on the face. It appears to be safe but longer surveillance of the procedure should be done before we can fully see.
I think these will likely be more popular than liposuction of the face because of the less associated contour irregularities.

Facial liposuction is not generally done as the fat that you are complaining of is not all localized to the area just under the skin in the face (like it is in the abdomen). Also, there are many delicate structures (especially nerves) in the face that can be injured. Lastly, facial liposuction is not very effective. In certain cases, where the complaint is isolated to the cheeks, a procedure called a buccal lipectomy can be done. This is a surgical procedure where fat from the cheeks can be removed from an incision inside the mouth. This can help reduce cheek fullness and improve facial contour.
Thank you for the question. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but it can improve the contours of the face for instance liposuction of the fat under the chin and removal of fat pads from the cheeks can contour the face and make it look slimmer.
