How can I know if it's seroma or just swelling after a tummy tuck?

How can I know if its seroma or just swelling after a tummy tuck, submitted image.

I don't think it's just a normal swelling since it's been 4 months since the tummy tuck. It may not be as visible from the photo, but I have an abscess above the incision line. Should I worry? I have already contacted my doctor, but I didn't get an answer yet.

Hi.  You are correct to have contacted your doctor.  He/she can tell after doing a physical exam if it is swelling or seroma.  The good news is that I don't think you have an abscess.  These are usually red, hot, and draining pus or fluid.  Also, you might have a fever if you had an abscess.  Once your doctor evaluates you and helps you figure out what the issue is, he/she can get you back on track for recovery.  Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing your question and photo.  Unfortunately, you will need to be seen by your Surgeon to determine if you are experiencing swelling or a seroma.  There is no way to safely be sure of this from examining yourself.  I hope this was helpful to you.

Best Wishes,

As soon as you visit your doctor, you should have your answer. He or she can try and drain fluid using a tiny needle. It may be scar tissue or a seroma, but it does not appear to me that is an abscess based on this picture.
