How can I prepare myself for a mommy makeover?

Even though I haven’t booked anything yet, I want to know how to be as prepared as possible if and when I decide to go through with a mommy makeover. Are there recommended diets, exercises, things to avoid before surgery? I want to get my body and mind in tip top shape so that I can bounce back from surgery and look, and more importantly feel my best.

If and when you book, you can expect some extensive preop and postop instructions from your surgeon. We provide lengthy instructions and also use a followup app for continued engagement with the patient. Preparing for surgery includes stopping certain medications, supplements, homeopathic drugs, etc. for a couple weeks before surgery under the doctor's supervision. Eating a diet with plenty of protein is good for wound healing. Absolutely no nicotine in any form whatsoever for a minimum of 3 weeks and preferably longer is required - we will cancel surgery on a patient who is noncompliant with stopping smoking and nicotine use. Exercising is good especially if you are already in the habit before surgery. You typically will need to take at least 6 weeks off from significant exercise if you have a full mommy makeover including tummy tuck. Weight management is very important and if you have an elevated body mass index (BMI) you may need some medically supervised dietary instructions as well.

Hello Deborah, congratulations in taking this life changing decision! Also it is very important to be prepared as you are already, making your research. It is hard to give you an accurate advice without an image or even better an in person evaluation, but normally it is recommended to have a stable weight with a 20 to 25 BMI (Body Mass Index). Do not smoke or drink for at least 2-4 weeks prior your procedure. Don't take medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, ginkgo biloba. I am sure that your Plastic Surgeon, will give you pre and post op guides for you to follow closely.

Please make sure that you and your surgeon are on the same page. Don't forget to discuss all your concerns, options and expectations thoroughly. Have a safe and pleasant PS Journey!
Respectfully,
