How can one reduce a double chin?

I have never been neither fat or too skinny. I consider myself an athletic woman and I exercise a lot but I cannot understand why I still have a double chin. Is there a procedure one can reduce a double chin without undergoing cosmetic surgery?

Hi Blazenais,

Kybella could be an excellent procedure for you because it is non-invasive and has been proven to reduce chin/neck fat.

As Dr. Azizzadeh explains on our blog, "when Kybella is injected into subcutaneous fat (fat deposits) it destroys the fat cells’ membranes, causing them to burst. Once the fat cells have been destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, and the remaining fat cells are flushed out of the body. Therefore, it’s safe to say that Kybella injections permanently get rid of the fat cells in the chin.”

Good morning!  Thank you for your question.   There is a new product on the market called Kybella that claims to break up the fat in the chin and neck area.  It is an injectable that is done in several treatments spread over several weeks.  I for one am not 100% convinced that it is effective long term, as it is new to the market. Also,  because it needs to be done in several visits you may not see the improvement right away.  Surgical procedures are still the most effective and often cheaper means to reduce a double chin.
