How effective is laser liposuction?
I read about Laser Liposuction and I have been going back and forth on whether or not I should try it. Do you have any opinions or information on Laser Liposuction? I really only need it in my abdomen and I am not overweight and I am a pretty active person.
I own and use a laser lipo unit (Lipotherme), and I don't charge more for this vs. traditional lipo.
I respectfully disagree with Dr. Breslow. In my experience there tends to be less surface irregularities, less bruising, and easier recovery, though more temporary numbness with laser lipo.
That said, the most important thing is not the lipo type but rather the surgeon performing the lipo.
I find that laser is best when re-doing lipo (scared in areas), and certain areas like the very fiberous male breast.
I recommend that you go to a board certified plastic surgeon and be sure to view his results.
Laser liposuction is a very well marketed and promoted procedure that is no more or less effective than any other type of liposuction. It tends to cost more than other types of liposuction because of all the marketing, and there is an increased risk of contour irregularities from the heat that can generated by the laser. If you are looking to have liposuction done, I would recommend looking into which surgeon should do it rather than which technique is used.
Liposuction is extremely popular. In fact, it’s the top cosmetic surgery in the United States, with some 400,000 procedures performed every year on various parts of the body.
Various studies indicate that laser liposuction is effective and does provide benefits in terms of reducing fat and tightening the skin.
However, there are some plastic surgeons who disagree and don't find laser lipo easier or more effective than traditional liposuction.
