How long do Tummy Tuck results last?

I've read that the results of a tummy tuck will last an entire lifetime but don't know how true that is for everyone. I know my sister had one about 5 years ago and, well, let's be polite and just say you would never know it. She swears she's maintained a healthy lifestyle and watches her diet like a hawk, and while I don't know just how true that is, I do know that she's very conscious of her body and does not eat any more than the next person. I've heard that after liposuction the fat never comes back the same way again, no matter how poor your diet is, but I don't know much about how tummy tucks affect the body afterward. So in general, do the results really last a lifetime, or is that just wishful thinking?

Hi.  The results of a tummy tuck and liposuction are permanent.  The skin and fat that are removed will never come back.  So you should be able to enjoy the results forever.  BUT, if you gain weight or your body changes with age, then the results of the tummy tuck may change.  Talk with your surgeon and he/she can tell you what you can expect based on your specific situation.  Best of luck!

First, consider what is done during a tummy tuck. The skin excess skin is removed(permanent), the muscle layer can be tightened (not necessarily permanent) and liposuction is often done(not necessarily permanent)

If someone truly maintains themselves the results can last a lifetime. If someone just lets themselves go, or has a pregnancy, then they can have a recurrence of their initial issues.

Consider repairing a car after an accident. Looks good but if you don't take car and get into another accident or otherwise don't keep up with maintenance the repairs may look like they were never performed.
