How long will my breasts be swollen after my breast reduction?

I am having my breast reduction surgery in about a month and with the warm weather approaching I am concerned that my breasts will look swollen in a bathing suit. I know I should have my breast reduction surgery earlier in the winter, but my schedule did not allow for it. Can you please tell me how long after my breast reduction surgery will my breasts be swollen?

Typically, there is some bruising that may last 2-3 weeks, and swelling that may last a little longer.  The majority should be gone by 6 weeks.  If you are healing normally, then you should be able to resume normal activities including swimming by 6 weeks after the surgery.  If you have other medical issues or conditions, then your situation may be different.  But it is always best to ask these questions to your surgeon since he/she knows your situation best.  Best of luck!

You will be fine. Swelling after this surgery is relatively minimal and gone in 4-6 weeks. If history is any indicator, you will love your new breasts, scars and all. Be sure your surgeon is a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and that he or she has a lot of experience with this surgery. If you are unsure ask. Do not be afraid to ask questions. You should not have to go to a forum like this for answers, especially if you already have surgery scheduled. It is your surgeon's obligation to insure that all of your questions are answered to your satisfaction.
