How much weight loss can be expected from a Tummy Tuck?

I know that having a tummy tuck won’t necessarily help with weight loss. However, I was wondering if it was typical to lose a few pounds after surgery, especially with all of the excess skin being removed. If so how much?

You are correct that a tummy tuck is NOT specifically a weight loss operation, but of course the skin and fat removed in the procedure does have weight - often 3-6 pounds, sometimes more, depending on the patient's weight preop and the amount of tissue available for removal.

I tell all of my patients that a tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure.   Unless you have had a massive weight loss and have an extreme amount of excess skin, the weight loss for a tummy tuck is negligible.
