Is it common not to use protective eyewear for a IPL facial?

I was not offered any type of protective eyewear during my IPL facial. My friend had one done by the same doctor less than a month ago and she did not wear anything either. She looks and feels great, but I just want to make sure that we’ll be okay.

Depending upon the IPL device and the area being treated, eye shields may or may not be necessary.  Any problems would generally be noticed soon after the treatment.  So if you haven't had any issues, you are likely OK.  I would contact the office who performed the procedure on you and ask them why eye shields were not used.
