Is It True that Otoplasty is Very Painful and Hard To Recover From?

I am considering getting the Otoplasty surgery but I keep seeing that people experience a lot of pain afterwards. Is this true? I do not want to have to rely on painkillers for too long because I have been addicted in the past. If someone could clarify what I should expect pain wise after surgery that would be great.

Hi, I have performed many Otoplasties over the past 30 years and find it to be one of the easiest and quickest procedures not only to perform but from which to recover.  In my experience, there typically is very little discomfort following Otoplasty.  I perform Otoplasty with local infiltration in 30 - 60 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Pain is very subjective and very individual.  Yes, there is some pain after otoplasty.  Usually it is minimal to moderate and subsides within a few days.
