Is liposuction a painful procedure?
That's pretty much my question right there: if I get liposuction on my thighs (inner and outer), will it be painful during the procedure? If the pain had to be given a number from 1 to 10, with 1 being no pain and 10 being unbearable pain, what number would you assign to thigh liposuction?
As far as liposuction is concerned, the thighs both inner and outer are not considered painful areas compared to back bra rolls and back flanks/waist. That having been said. I do advise getting some sort of "comfort cocktail" type pre medication "to take the edge off" and have a driver for the ride home. For the procedure to be painless a small amount of Lidocaine is used to numb the tiny entry points- most areas have 2 of these. For this you will feel a prickle and a bee sting. Then, Tumescent which is a dilute form of lidocaine is infused through those tiny entry points to numb up the rest of the areas and you might feel a tug or two but that's it. If I was forced to give an average number it would be 3-4 for most individuals although there is a wide variance in pain perception and tolerance.
Hi. You should not experience any pain during the procedure as you should be under some form of anesthesia. Afterward, there is some discomfort, but this is easily controlled with pain medication. Pain is very subjective, so it is hard to assign a number to it that would be correct for every individual. In general, liposuction of the thighs is less painful than liposuction of the back or flanks. Hope that helps. Best of luck!
Jonathan Heistein has 4 Liposuction before & afters:
Liposuction should not be a painful operation. if performed with adequate tumescent anesthetic solution patients should be comfortable for many hours after the procedure. The tumescent solution contains a dilute local anesthetic called lidocaine. When it wears off the areas treated will feel sore, similar to the way you feel the day after a strong workout. Also certain body areas tend to do better with respect to pain.. Inner and outer thighs do well with less pain. The back tends to be more sore. Good luck.
