Is pregnancy a good idea after a tummy tuck?
I had a tummy tuck about five years after I had my second daughter. I wasn't planning on having any more children which was why I had the procedure done at that particular time. Last month, I had a pregnancy scare. I'm 39 and in a new relationship following a yucky divorce. I really felt as though I was done with having children but my current partner was overjoyed when we first thought I might be pregnant and I was surprised but I got pretty excited too. This has made me rethink whether or not I'm really done with pregnancy. The tummy tuck is only a little over a year old. Will I negate the positive results of the procedure if I go through a pregnancy? Or will my having had a tummy tuck impact negatively on the whole process? How long after a pregnancy could I get the procedure done again, if I wanted?
The tummy tuck will not affect your pregnancy in any way. The reverse is not likely true however. The pregnancy will stretch your abdominal wall. How much stretching can't be predicted, and neither can the ability of the abdominal wall to snap back.
My advice is to live your life and do what you want. If the tummy is not satisfactory after you complete childbearing, you may consider a secondary tummy tuck.
All the best.
