Is there an ideal age for getting a male breast reduction?

I am 21 years old. Is there an ideal age for getting a male breast reduction? Should I be waiting until I fully mature, or is it fine to have surgery now?

If you have persistent gynecomastia that has not resolved since puberty then now is a good time to get it removed surgically

If you are 21 and have had the problem for a while, it is likely that it will not go away on its own.  So the answer is that you are a candidate to do the surgery now or anytime you are ready.  You should go for a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to find out your options.  Best of luck!

If your condition has been stable for two or more years, then it is amenable to surgery.  I have operated on hundreds of young men for gynecomastia, from age 12-13 and up.  To date, non of them has had a recurrence of the condition.  There is no need to wait until you are "fully mature."

Good luck!
