Is there a recommended age for Botox?

I am in my early 30's but have had a few girlfriends who told me they started using Botox to prevent wrinkles as they age.  Is this true or even recommended?  Thanks!

It is true

Hello. Yes it's true! Botox therapy is preventative with regards to dynamic wrinkle formation. Your girlfriends are getting a head start at long lasting youthfulness. Bravo.

Be well

Botox or neuromodulators can be used as a preventative measure for the development of wrinkles. Wrinkles form as creases in the skin where muscles cause pull forces on the skin; dynamic wrinkles. These are wrinkles that appear when your muscles are contracting; like "11 lines". They can eventually turn into permanent wrinkles as you age. If you decrease the pull force, the wrinkles will not be as deep or pronounced.  A little Botox can go a long way to help prevent wrinkles.

Absolutely true. First you have to have what we call dynamic wrinkles. These are wrinkles that appear when your muscles are contracting. They can eventually turn into permanent wrinkles as you age. If you stop them before that time they will not be permanent.

Thank you for the question. You can start Botox as soon as you see fine lines to prevent the appearance of permanent wrinkles. I personally think it's a good idea. You can modify it to meet your needs with lower doses and less frequently at first.

Discuss this with a plastic surgeon who can devise a specific plan for you.

Best of luck!
