My Nose Tip is Too Big and My Nostrils are Uneven. What should I do?

I had surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm concerned my nose tip is too high and my nostrils are uneven. I had a bent nose tip before and I wanted my nose to be more curvy, but it doesn't look like I imagined.

I understand your concern — your nose can have a big impact on the symmetry, balance, and beauty of your face. The good news is that it’s still very early on in the healing process and you may find that your nose settles into its shape over the coming months. Some plastic surgeons intentionally over-rotate the tip during surgery so that it falls into the correct position after the initial healing phase which can take a few weeks.

I think it’s worth noting that the swelling associated with this type of procedure can also have a significant impact on the shape of your nose and your face. It usually takes about three or four months for most of the swelling to disappear and as long as a year to see final results.

With this in mind, I recommend that you try to be patient and remain optimistic about your results before passing judgment on the procedure. There’s a good chance that you will be more satisfied with the results once the swelling goes and your nose takes on a more natural look,  complementing your natural features.

There are also a number of things you can do at home to support the healing process. For example, most board-certified plastic surgeons will advise you to avoid strenuous exercise for a few weeks after surgery, as the increased blood pressure can cause swelling and interfere with healing. In addition, if you wear glasses, you should avoid resting them on the bridge of your nose as this can impact the shape. You’ll also want to wear sunscreen when going outdoors to prevent long term discoloration of the skin on your nose. Finally, your plastic surgeon might offer prescription medication and/or supplements to support healing — always take as directed.

If you’re still unhappy with the results after the healing process is complete, you may be able to address your concerns with additional nose reshaping. However, most plastic surgeons will advise you to wait at least a year before exploring further cosmetic surgery.

Hi there, and thank you for your question. Try not judge your final results just yet as it takes at least 4-6 weeks for most of the swelling to resolve, and 6 months for your final result.
