Tummy Tuck for Men

I don’t know any men who have had this plastic surgery. I’m interested in getting some details about it. Is it any different for men?

Men and women both have liposuction performed.   They have facelifts and eyelid surgeries.  There are similar operations for the sexes but different ones as well.  There are really no breast augmentations or breast lifts performed on the majority of men, yet breast reduction in men or gynecomastia surgery is performed.

Yes- there are differences in regards to the type of operation and result you are looking to obtain. Find a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an in person consultation. Good Luck!

Hello there! This is a great question, and I am glad you are looking into various procedures. In my practice I see men coming in more often. An abdominoplasty is generally the same for both men and women. Sometimes I do find that men may not need "muscle tightening", and this will be evaluated at your consultation appointment. Generally an abdominoplasty involves the tightening of the fascia, and removal of excess skin. Sometimes liposuction is done on the sides to enhance your look. I suggest consulting with a few board certified plastic surgeons to learn more!

Thank you for sharing your question.  A Tummy Tuck is mostly the same for a  man or a woman.  A man might have a higher incision than a woman.  Most women want the incision hidden underneath the underwear.  Women's underwear usually is worn much lower on the abdomen then mens, so the mens incision is usually a bit higher up.  For a Tummy Tuck, the excess skin is removed, and the abdominal muscles are tightened with permanent sutures.  Some Plastic Surgeons include Liposuction as a part of the procedure.  You would be surprised about the number of men that have plastic surgery.  Have a few consultations with board certified Plastic Surgeons in your area.  I hope this was helpful.

Best Wishes, Dr. B.

Technically the procedure is very similar. Three components: fat removal, skin removal and muscle tightening where indicated. The issue more commonly found in men is that they often have intra abdominal fat which is only addressed by weight loss.
