Tummy tuck for stretch marks?
Can I remove stretch marks too with a mini TT? I've got some severe post-pregnancy stripes that I want to get rid of. Wearing a bikini shouldn't be a fuss, but for me, right now, it is.
A modified version of a traditional tummy tuck, the mini tuck removes sagging excess skin from the lower abdomen to create a flatter, firmer silhouette free of stretch marks. A mini tummy tuck represents a great option for healthy patients at a stable weight who are concerned about a protruding lower belly. A mini tummy tuck procedure, however, can only remove stretch marks located below the navel.
If your stretch marks extend above your belly button, a mini tummy tuck is likely to have limited success. In addition, be aware that you are still likely to have some residual stretch marks following the excision of loose skin, however, their appearance will be improved as your lower abdomen will be tauter.
If you have significant loose skin or loose muscles in your abdominal wall, a full tummy tuck is likely to achieve better results. Any form of tummy tuck surgery is best pursued only if you have finished having children. Consider scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if a mini tummy tuck is right for you.
Hi. A mini TT will remove stretch marks from the lowest part of your abdomen. If that is the location of your stretch marks, then you are in luck! If you have stretch marks close to your belly button, these would only be removed with a full TT. Go meet with a PS and you can get a better idea of what the options are. Best of luck!
Dr. Jonathan Heistein has 1 Mini Tummy Tuck before & after:
Stretch marked skin occurs in more than 90% of women as a result of pregnancy. Unfortunately, weight loss, diet, topical creams, and oils do little to resolve it or improve their appearance. Mini tummy tuck surgery can remove excess, stretched abdominal skin from around the lower portion of the stomach, beneath the navel, and improve the abdominal contour. It is a quicker procedure than a traditional tummy tuck, with less downtime, and results in a smaller scar (similar to a c-section scar) that is quite easily concealed beneath the bikini line.
A good candidate for a mini tummy tuck will have a small pooch around the lower belly that they would like removed, be at or close to his or her ideal weight, and healthy. They should not have a large quantity of excess skin in the abdominal area (such as rolls above the navel). During the procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision above the pubic area, through which they will tighten loose muscles in the lower abdomen and excise extra skin. It sounds as though you may be a good candidate for a mini tummy tuck, so long as your stretch marks are confined to the lower third of your abdomen.
