Under Eye Bags - Cost and Procedure
Hello. I have a few questions.
I have bags under my eyes that appeared only about 1 1/2 years ago. Do you recommend waiting until they are worse so the bags do not return? Is that possible? I have my son's wedding next August, 2018, and I am hoping my pictures are not disappointing. I cannot hide the bags well with makeup.
What is your initial fee (first visit)? Do any insurance companies cover the procedure (for medical reasons)? What are the total fees start to finish? (ballpark is fine)
My upper eyelids are also droopy, but not at the point I feel the need to consider a procedure. Both my eye doctor and dermatologist told me that some plastic surgeons might consider it a medical necessity due to blocked vision. See my photo. I do feel like my eyes are always heavy, so I might consider it in the future, unless I can afford it while doing the lower lid procedure.
I am a teacher, so I am only available for the procedure in August from 8/4 on, and hope for most of the swelling to be down by September if possible.
Thank you so much for your correspondence.
Have a nice weekend,
A simple but highly effective way to get rid of under eyelid bags is with filler below the bags. The bags that begin to show as we age have really been there all along but as we lose volume in our face. the bags, which are pockets of fat around our eyeballs become more apparent. While many surgeons like to operate and take this fat out, this is, in fact, contributing to the aging process in the long run. Simply replacing the volume below these bags can produce a pleasing result without the complications of blepharoplasty.
My preferred filler for this area is Bellafill. This is a long term filler that produces marvelous results. Here are many examples of before and after photos using Bellafill to correct under eye bags.

Rejuvenation of the lower eyelids (blepharoplasty) addresses both excess fat from the lower eyelids and removal of excess skin. Cost will depend on the experience, location, and other factors such as surgery center fees and/or anesthesia.

Thank you for sharing your question. There is no consultation fee for the initial visit here. The lower eyelid surgery by itself would cost $4530, which includes the hospital, Anesthesia, and surgical fee. I do recommend having the upper eyelids done at the same time because it makes a huge difference. You wind up saving money by doing them together, as the first hour of anesthesia is the most costly. Together the Upper and Lower Eyelid surgery is $5700.00. If you have the surgery performed in early August, you should be completely fine for September. Swelling usually lasts for about two weeks, but can last for four weeks for some patients. There are some things that can be done to reduce swelling. I hope this was helpful to you.
Best Wishes, Dr. B.
