What should I know about hyperhidrosis surgery?
What happens during hyperhidrosis surgery, and how complex is the procedure? WIll I be able to leave the hospital the same day I have the operation?
Hyperhidrosis is a difficult condition to treat. There are a large number of non-surgical treatments that should be tried first-- surgery is a last resort. Sympathectomy can be effective, but oftentimes it leads to hyperhidrosis on other parts of the body. I have my own procedure for hyperhidrosis of the armpits which is performed on an out-patient basis and takes about one hour. It is simple, straight-forward and truly effective.
