What size breast implants are most suitable by body type?
I'm 26 and fairly petite (5'2”, 102 lbs). I am currently a 34B but I definitely want to be bigger--without looking like a freak! I'd like to find the perfect sized breast implants for me and know for sure if I can increase the size of my breasts without them looking fake. Any suggestions or words of advice?
With modern breast implants, it is possible for you to achieve a larger chest that looks natural and fits your petite frame. When you visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation consultation, he or she will evaluate you to determine which options are best for your particular situation. His or her evaluation will include the following:
The first steps your surgeon will take when evaluating you for implants is, using a measuring tape and a digital imaging device, measure your chest wall and analyze your natural breasts. These metrics will help him or her determine the ideal width of your implants.
Trying on various sizes
Once your surgeon has an idea of which implants will be best for you, through sizers you can try on different implants to see which is the right size for your body type. You may wish to bring several bras and extra clothing to your consultation so you can see how the various implant sizes look in them. Keep in mind, however, that the implants will look smaller after surgery, so it’s often a better idea to opt for slightly larger implants.
3D computer imaging
Most plastic surgeons have special computer programs that enable them to show you how you should look after your breast augmentation.
Your surgeon will discuss your options with you and help you decide on the right implant size/type to help you achieve the natural look you desire. The results of your breast implant surgery will be with you for a long time, so communication with your surgeon is imperative towards ensuring you’ll be happy with the results.
Here are a few other issues to consider before deciding to undergo breast augmentation surgery.
- Given breast tissue loses approximately ten percent of volume due to thinning over the implants, you should consider choosing slightly larger implants in order to emerge from the process with your desired breast size. Approximately 250-400 cubic centimeters is the difference between sizes.
- Saline implants are less expensive, but some surgeons find they tend to ripple under the breast tissue.
- Silicone implants come in varying levels of thickness, with the gummy bear variety being the thickest and firmest.
- Teardrop-shaped implants result in the most natural appearance but are also more expensive.
- Implant profile governs implant projection. High profile implants project further forward than moderate profile implants, which allow you to achieve more breast volume in a narrower implant, should your breast base width prohibit a wider implant.
- Exact bra cup size is difficult to estimate because there is no standard across brassiere manufacturers. Try instead to visualize how you want your chest to look. Looking at your plastic surgeon’s before and after photo gallery, silicone gel sizers, and 3D imaging all help you do this.

Thank you for sharing your question. Natural-looking Breast Augmentation can most definitely be achieved with your petite body frame. Your best bet would be to have a few consultations with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons, and to express your desire for a natural, proportionate look. The size of the implant coincides with the size of your chest wall. After measuring, your plastic surgeon will give you some options for sizes depending on the look you want. The key to natural looking implants is to have your surgeon assist you in the decision by matching your dimensions and tissue type to the implant. There are many implant choices out there and I am sure there is a great option for you.

You first have to start with the result you are trying to achieve. What do you want to look like?
After that has been established (through pictures, implant sizers and Vectra 3D imaging, then the plastic surgeon can give you options regarding how you get there from where you currently are.
You then evaluate the positives and negatives of each of your options.
Make sure you work with an experienced plastic surgeon who has the Mentor sizing system and the Vectra 3D imaging system. You get a much better idea of what you can look like.
