When can someone hit the gym after a male tummy tuck?
In the last 2 years, I've been incredibly motivated to start my life all over and make myself a proud man. I lost 75 pounds and now I'm having my extra skin removed with a tummy tuck surgery in 2 weeks. I'm excited and looking forward to my future. Exercising was extremely helpful, not only for losing weight but for my morale too. I don't want to have to take a long break. How quick can I start hitting the gym again?
After a Tummy Tuck, I usually tell my patients to wait four full weeks to return to the gym. Doing so before this can lead to complications such as Seroma. When you do return to full activity at the four week period, you will not resume your workouts where you left off before surgery. You will find that you get tired quickly, and you may still be sore. You have to listen to your body, and not overexert yourself. Be sure to discuss this with your Surgeon. I hope this was helpful to you.

If there is muscle tightening along with the abdominoplasty I would wait at least 6 weeks to give the muscles time to heal before heavy lifting. At 3-4 weeks you may be able to start cardio but you wont want to strain your abdominal muscles for a while if they are tightened.
