Will a breast augmentation give me fuller, rounder breasts?

When I think about breast implants I always picture really fake looking balloon shaped boobs. Is it possible to get a breast augmentation to give me fuller, rounder breasts, without making them look so fake?

Absolutely!!!  When you go for your consultation with a plastic surgeon, just let him/her know, and they will help you choose the right implants to give you the natural results you desire!

Dear LeUrsa26:

I see you have asked several excellent questions. All should be answered with in-person consultation due to the variations of each patient. In general, saline versus silicone gel implants will provide a different appearance as:

  1. Saline implants tend to push away from the center of the implant therefore making the breast appear rounder.
  2. Silicone implants tend to pull in toward the center of the implant changing shape according to breast position; ie:
    1. flatter rounder with lying, and
    2. tear drop shaped when vertical.

More petite, thinner and nulliparous women may have tighter skin initially but less resistant to the weight and forces of the implant.

Different desires due to width of the chest wall will determine beginning "foot print" of the implant and then projection and cleavage are to be considered.

Potential for capsule contracture or other capsule laxity deformities need to be discussed and therefore use of smooth versus textured implants options considered.

Augmented breasts fall into a range of too soft to jiggly to firm to hard. "Fake" tend to be uncomfortably big looking, high and ball shaped but fake looking implanted breasts for one person may be naturally desired by another.

As you see, you will fall into a vast range of implant "looks" and those looks will change with age, pregnancy, skin and breast support changes.

Please seek more than one consultation with a well experienced, skilled, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your many questions and see what is right for you!.

All the best!

Yes, that's the whole point of breast augmentation.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified.

Absolutely!  You can certainly have nicer, more full and round breasts while still maintaining a natural look.  Based on your anatomy, your surgeon can help you choose an implant that fulfills your goal.  Usually, smaller implants look more natural and less "fake" than larger ones.  You can try on some of the different sizes during your consultation so you can get an idea of what to expect, and therefore choose an implant that will meet your needs. Best of luck!

Yes, this is possible.  You have to meet with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals.  Oftentimes, patients may want a "fake" look.  But it is indeed possible to achieve a full, round, natural look with careful selection of an implant which is appropriate for your figure.

It is quite possible and if that is your desired goal Certainly discuss this with a board certified plastic surgeon during your consultation. Implants come in various shapes to help people achieve their desired look and you will have the chance to see which implant type is best for your anatomy and figure.

YES!  Natural breast augmentation is the norm.  Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Under the muscle
  2. right size:  use 3D imaging to pick your right size implant
  3. consider a form stable implant such as the Allergan Style 410
