Will I be able to walk with a straight back after a skin only Tummy tuck?
i am having a full tummy tuck with no muscle tightening. Will I have the same tightness and trouble standing/walking upright post surgery as someone that had the tummy tuck with muscle tightening?
Recovery from a skin only tummy tuck (aka "panniculectomy") is much quicker and less uncomfortable than when muscle tightening is performed. It is likely that you will be walking slightly bent over for just a few days. When the muscles are tightened, patients often describe the discomfort as if they went to the gym and did 1000 sit-ups. That is not the case when the muscles are not tightened.

The skin itself will still be quite tight and we recommend you walk with a slight bend for about 7 days following surgery. We also recommend you sleep in a recliner to reduce tension on the incision.
