29 Year Old Shares Her Thoughts on Botox Injections
Botulinum toxin A
In my early twenties, I never thought I would use Botox. I obviously didn't need it at the time and my mom, who had always taken immaculate care of her skin, told me she was open to fillers but wouldn't even consider Botox because it was a poison. What my mom used to say stuck with me until all of my friends starting getting Botox and they absolutely loved it. Not one of my friends who got Botox had any issues with it. One friend even had Botox injected into the back of her skull to prevent migraine headaches, which were very debilitating to her. For such a dangerous toxin, my friends seemed to be doing quite okay.
When I hit 28, I started noticing lines on my forehead. I had a very stressful job and frequently worked 13 hour days. The long hours took a toll on me and caused me to start aging rapidly. What I thought I would never consider -- Botox -- I determined I needed. At the recommendation of my friend, I schedule a consultation with Lisa Micik, a PA in Hoboken.
My treatment was a breeze. It was a few needle pokes and that was it. I didn't feel any real discomfort. I could feel the needle go in, but I'm not scared of needles and they don't bother me. The entire procedure took less than 20 minutes. When my treatment was over, I had a few tiny bumps from where the Botox was injected, but those went away later that day. I took the day off from work to have the procedure, but that wasn't necessary. I could have easily had this done during my lunch break.
I forgot the exact cost of my botox treatment but believe it was around $600. The Botox I had injected has already lasted 6 months, so for a $100/month I'm loving it.
I am a big fan of Botox now. My first treatment made me a believer. It has smoothed out my forehead lines and I have had no side effects from my injections. When the Botox first started working it was a little bit weird (your muscle start to freeze all of a sudden) but now I love that feeling. I think I've even convinced my mom to give a try. I guess we shall see.
