54 Y/O - I Had Dermaplaning and a Lactic Acid Chemical Peel
I went to Illinois Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery to have dermaplaning and a lactic acid chemical facial peel done. I had never really noticed my facial hair before, until all of my hair fell off during chemo therapy. I noticed how much smoother my skin was and how much better my makeup went on with no “peach fuzz”, which I had not noticed before. After the facial hair came back, I was aware of it and wanted it removed. This is why I wanted a dermaplaning procedure. The chemical procedure was to smooth out my skin after the dermaplaning treatment.
My experience with both treatments was pleasant and they didn’t hurt at all. My face was cleansed thoroughly to remove all residue and makeup on my face. I hadn't worn any makeup, so the cleansing step went pretty quickly. Then came the dermaplaning treatment. I had to wear mini goggles to protect my eyes from the bright light the aesthetician shined on my face to make sure she could see the dermaplaning blade clearly. The dermaplaning procedure did not hurt at all, was quick and exfoliated my skin very well before the chemical peel was applied. One of the benefits of having the dermaplaning done before the chemical peel, is your skin doesn’t flake off. Previously, when I had a peel, I went through about 10 days of flaking. Since my skin had been exfoliated previously, I didn’t have any flaking!
When I was done, my skin looked very smooth. It seemed very calm and happy! It wasn't red either! After my treatments, my moisturizers and serums soaked into my skin much easier, as there wasn’t any hair to absorb it. My makeup went on so smooth afterwards too. When I did my makeup the next day, I was pleasantly surprised! I really didn’t need foundation, just some concealer and powder to make my skin look very smooth!
I would definitely have this procedure done again, and have already made my next appointment. The cost for both procedures was $125.00
