I’m 25 years old and traveled to Miami, Florida, from Houston, Texas, for my BBL surgery. My doctor was Dr. Robert Kagan at Jolie Plastic Surgery and I paid $4,500 for my procedure. Jolie plastic surgery had two locations and I went to the Miami Surgical Center.

The day before my surgery I went to Dr. Kagan's office to prepare for my procedure. Upon arriving, I was taken to the back, where my height and weight were checked. I then signed some paperwork and was met by a nurse practitioner. Next was the fitting for my faja, which is a garment that is worn after your surgery and it must be worn for 6 weeks. You're supposed to wear the faja almost every day for optimal results. After that, I was all set for surgery the following day.

I arrived at the surgical center at 6 am and checked in. I was soon taken to the back for a urine test to make sure I wasn't pregnant. My BMI was checked and Dr. Kagan marked me up and told me where he would be making my incisions. My BMI was 24.66 when it was measured pre-operatively. Then I went into the operating room, where the anesthesia was administered. I was out after that a woke up lying on my stomach and was a little uncomfortable. Fortunately for me, the pain wasn't severe.

I recovered for a little while and then was placed in a wheelchair and rolled out to my car. When I got home, I laid on my stomach for the rest of the day. I ate chicken noodle soup and took my antibiotics along with the Tylenol that was prescribed by Dr. Kagan. The rest of that day was a wash, as I slept for most of it.

For the first fews days of my recovery, my portable bedside urinal was my best friend. I used it almost everyday during my entire recovery, because I was too sore to sit on a toilet. I also had a total of 5 massages at My Body Contour 304, which cost me $525 but was worth it. I preferred Body Contour's massage services to the ones at Jolie, which I didn't like. Massages are mandatory for you to receive the best results post-operatively after BBL surgery.

My first 3 days of recovery were a little hard. I had to use a lot of my upper body strength to lift myself up. On my second post-operative day, I started using foam boards and back boards. On day 4, I started using my boppy pillow to sit. It was still uncomfortable to sit, but the boppy pillow helped ease the discomfort.

I ended up staying in Miami for 6 days after my surgery. I flew back to Houston on the 7th day. My flight was not as bad as I had expected it to be. I sat for the entire flight unless I needed to use the bathroom.

When I got back to my house, I contacted a massage lady in Houston and bought 6 post-op massages. My first massage at this place was a little painful and I took a painkiller to reduce the pain. The massage place I went to was called Le Beauty Concierge. The woman there really helped my body heal so much and I was very appreciative for her help.

The second week post-op my body still looked swollen whenever I was out of my faja. For the first 4-5 weeks, I always had my faja on. Around the third week, I stopped wearing my backboard. I stopped wearing my forms in the fourth week. I noticed that the more massages I received, the better my body looked. I would see a huge difference after my massages and I am currently self-massaging my body, or I get my husband to massage me.

I am now 6 week post-op and I have stopped wearing my faja. I now only wear a waste trainer. Up until this point, my swelling hasn't been bad. I'm not sure if my butt is more fluffed, but it does look different. My butt is softer now, but is still sore. I massage it whenever I feel sore and that seems to help.

My overall experience was good, but I personally wouldn't return to Jolie for surgery because the professionalism there wasn't that good. I barely got a chance to meet my doctor at Jolie. He saw me, but didn't know who I was and that really raised some red flags for me. At that moment, I knew I was just a number and a check. For something as important as surgery, I would have wanted a better relationship with my doctor. Having said this, my Brazilian butt lift went well. I think that for any woman who has a problem with fat on their stomach and just wants to feel beautiful again, BBL surgery is a good choice. I also suggest that you do your research before you pick a doctor. Remember that this is a big decision and you want to make sure you pick the right doctor for your surgery. I hope my review has been helpful and good luck with your surgery.
