My name is A. Curtis and I’m 20 years old. I live in Boston, MA and paid $9800 for my procedure. I decided to get a breast reduction on December 14, 2017. After years of painful back ache and feeling uncomfortable with my body, this decision changed my life.

I visited with two doctors before finally choosing one in Boston, MA. The first consultation was a bit alarming, as I didn’t get to speak with the doctor for too long and the nurses advised me that that is usually how it works. I left the office and had to decide whether to proceed. Since I didn’t get my procedure covered by my insurance, I had to pay out of pocket. I tried to get it covered, but I unfortunately couldn’t because I would have had to go back to physical therapy and I stopped that when I was younger.

On the day of my appointment, I went to Brigham and Women's Hospital at 6 AM and my surgery was scheduled for 7:15 AM. I didn’t eat the night before or drink anything. When I arrived at the hospital, I changed into a robe and sat there and then the nurses stopped by and put an IV in. I sat there for a while and then the doctor came in around 7 AM. It went very quickly and I went through the procedure and woke up and was blurry but remember fading in and out. I was in no pain. I ate some crackers and slept for the rest of the car ride home. No pain when they put me in the car.

The next few days were a bit rough and uncomfortable, but I slept most of the time. I only took 2 oxy for the first 2 days and then switched to Tylenol. Having my family there was crucial, as I was really restricted in my movement. After about 4 days of sleeping upright, I switched to my bed and comfortably slept.

About 5 days after the procedure, I went for the follow up visit and still had the surgical bra on. The visit went well and the doctor told me I looked great. I began openly walking around and feeling comfortable in clothing about 7 days after. I would get tired very quickly but it was not painful at all. At my 9 day checkup, they took my surgical bra off and I felt very good. I was incredibly impressed with my breasts and my scars looked great. I had a bilateral breast reduction and went from a 34DDD to a 34D. This was the most beneficial thing I could’ve done for my body, and I’ve never felt more confident. It’s a lot of money, but very worth it. And the lift of the reduction part for me was the most important part as I used to have very saggy breast’s.
