Chemical Peel and Dermaplaning Treatments For My Acne Scars and Sun Spots
My name is Lindsey. I'm 32 years old and received a dermaplaning and chemical peel treatment for my face. My aesthetician was Sarah from Salon Chic in Good Year, Arizona. The treatment cost $115: dermaplaning was $65 and the peel was $70, but since I did both at the same time they deducted $20.
While I was at my hair appointment at Salon Chic, I had reached out to Sarah asking for help with my skin. She was very kind and so informative. I explained to her my feelings and insecurities of my skin. I wanted to be able to not have to wear makeup every day. I wanted to feel confident about my skin. I have adult cystic acne that has left me with pretty bad acne scarring. I also have sun damage and uneven skin tone. She told me about these treatments and why they would be beneficial. She mentioned that getting dermaplaning before the chemical peel is better, because it removes the dead skin and hair follicles, which allow the chemical peel to absorb into the skin better.
The treatment process took under a hour. She prepped my skin by cleaning it, removing any dirt or oils that remained on the surface. Then she used a tiny blade to scrape my skin. While dermaplaning and scraping my skin, she would show me what was being removed from the outer layer of my skin. It looked like a rolled up hair and dirt ball. Ewww, but I knew this was what my face needed! There was no pain during the dermaplaning on my skin. The other part of dermaplaning is removing the hair from my nostrils. She put wax on a q-tip, let it sit in my nose and then ripped all of my hair out. That hurt a bit but I had no hanging nose hairs, which is something that started showing as I got older. It was a weird experience, but I was happy about that part. Lol. Once we were done with that, she started the chemical peel. That was not a pleasant experience for me. I rate my pain about a 7. It burned and stung. The product is left on your face. It is not cleaned or wiped off. It just melts into your skin for good.
After the treatment, my skin was red and irritated around my mouth and nose area. My skin immediately developed a white frostiness around my nose and she said that is normal for some and they call it frost. I only had it for a couple of days. On day two and three, my skin started to peel around my chin and mouth area. She had sent me home with a couple products that I was instructed to put on morning and night. The products are by PCA Skin. One was a Rebalance moisturizer and the other was a SPF 30 skin protection cream. I was also told to stay clear of direct sun for the first few days, so I stayed home or wore a hat when I was out of the house.
On the third day, I did put on makeup because I had to film videos for my Youtube channel. You could see the peeling on my chin but the way my makeup felt on my skin was different. Much smoother and the rest of my face had a nice glow. Sarah recommended coming back in 4-6 weeks. I am very happy with the procedure and will be getting more to keep working on my skin.
