Emervel Lips is an Amazing Filler for Lip Injections
My story with lip augmentation began 2.5 years ago. Since that time, I have been to multiple people for my lip filler treatments. I have had multiple HA fillers injected too, including Juvederm, Restylane and Emervel lips. Of all the lip fillers I have tried, Emervel is my favorite. It does not last as long as the other fillers, but it gives me the best results.
To give you a little bit of background information about myself, I'm 27 and I was born with what I like to call 'nonexistent lips.' They were very thin and I disliked them very much. When I was around 25, I told myself I needed to consider a lip enhancement procedure. So I went ahead and did. I contacted a medical clinic in my area and had my lips done.
Now, the first person who injected my lips did not do a good job. She used Juvederm and left me with cat lips, which was the one thing I did not want to happen. I even had her 'attempt' to correct my lips by injecting more filler on either side of the parts of my lip that looked like a cat. That didn't work either and I just left my lips as they were.
Even though I had a bad first experience with lip fillers, I decided to get lip injections again but this time I decided to go to the doctor my sister had been going to - Dr. Blackburn. Dr. Blackburn utilized a different technique than my previous injector (who was a nurse). She used a Botox needle, which is much thinner than the typical needle used to inject filler. Dr. Blackburn told me it allows for more precise and controlled injections. Based on my results, I'd say she was right.
During my procedure, Dr. Blackburn injected 1/2 syringe of Emervel. Unlike many other clinics, Dr. Blackburn allows you to purchase 1/2 a syringe (most want you to buy the whole syringe). Emervel is more expensive but I think it leaves you with more natural looking lips. The smaller needles also help prevent bruising and swelling, which I've experienced with larger filler needles.
Dr. Blackburn's injection technique is very slow and steady. I didn't experience any discomfort during the injections and I was very happy after the procedure was over. My lips looked great right after the procedure.
The one issue with Emervel fillers vs. other fillers like Juvederm, is it doesn't last as long. It's a thinner filler and dissolves more quickly. It's also expensive and seems to be more popular in Canada than the United States. To give you an idea of the cost, I paid $400 for 1/2 syringe. (Juvederm costs between $600-1000 per syringe) To me though, Emervel is worth every penny, but I know others may not feel that way because of the cost or perhaps it's not the right filler for them - like my sister, who prefers Juvederm.
To summarize my experience with lip fillers, I would say they are worth it but make sure you go to the correct injector. Your face is too precious to make a mistake with it. Dr. Blackburn is amazing and I had a great lip treatment experience, but my previous injector was bad. I recommend both her and Emervel!
