Forehead and Crow's Feet Botox Injections: What You Need to Know
Procedure specific satisfaction rating
Botulinum toxin A
I just got my first Botox treatment and I've decided to share my experience for those of you who are on the fence about getting a Botox treatment. This is my honest opinion and I have not been paid to endorse Botox.
Quick Facts About My Botox Treatment:
- Botox is an effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles on your face
Price paid for Botox injections in my forehead, crow's feet and between my eyes was $650 at $16 per Botox unit.
- I received Botox injections, but Dysport, Xeomin and Botox are all similar botulinum toxins and have a slightly different chemical makeup.
- It took 4 days for my Botox injections to begin working
- It took 2 weeks for my wrinkles to start smoothing out
I am 38 years old, have two children and have always been prideful about taking care of my skin and body. I spend almost $550 on skin care products every two months. I know this might sound insane, but I have a fear of looking old and I will do everything possible, within reason, to maintain a good appearance.
The area of my face where the wrinkles bothered me most were my forehead and around my eyes. My forehead lines and crow's feet kept getting worse despite applying many expensive products to them. I tried Neocutis, Skin Medica and other medical grade skin care lines, but none of them improved my facial lines. I eventually learned that no skin care product was going to fix my wrinkles, because the problem was caused by the underlying muscles.
Picking My Botox Doctor:
I considered going to a plastic surgeon for my Botox injections, but after speaking with a few people in the aesthetics field, I decided that a nurse injector who only did Botox treatments would be the best option for me. Think about it: A plastic surgeon operates on every body part, while a nurse injector who is busy will only do Botox and filler injections every day. Plastic surgeons probably only do Botox injections a few times a week. I want the person who does the treatment the most.
Getting My Botox Injections:
My Botox appointment took 15 minutes and the injections themselves took 2-3 minutes. I was injected between and above my eyebrows and on the sides of my eyes. I felt a small needle prick at each injection site, but my injector moved so quickly that the pain was over before I could even complain. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst pain, I would say the injections were a 2. It was no worse than getting a flu shot injected into your arm.
I was told that my results would not be noticeable for a week and that's precisely what I experienced. The Botox did not paralyze my muscles for 3 days and I didn't feel my muscles being paralyzed, I just noticed that my forehead would not scrunch up when I looked in the mirror and tried to raise my eyebrows.
It took 2 weeks before I could see a noticeable decrease in my facial wrinkles. By 1 month, my forehead lines and crow's feet were completely gone, my brows were lifted a bit and my face looked smoother than it every had. I looked more refreshed and well rested than I had in the previous 10 years before my injections.
Botox Before and After Pictures:
I've included 3 pictures of myself with this review. The first picture is my forehead before Botox. The second picture is me a week after Botox and the third picture is me 1 month after my injections.
I paid $650 for my Botox treatment. I had 40 units injected into my facial muscles.
How Long Does Botox Last?
My Botox will last 3-4 months before I have to return for more injections. My nurse injector told me some people claim that Botox last longer as you get more treatments, but she said this is not true. So I guess I'll be getting botox injections every 3-4 months!
Verdict on Botox:
I had amazing results, zero side effects and I would say my nurse injector did an excellent job. I think you'll find that most Botox reviews are positive, unless the person went to a terrible injector. If you find a good injector, I think this will be one of the best decisions you ever make. Botox is an anti wrinkle treatment that works, it's safe and it'll get rid of your frown lines, crow's feet and give your brows the lift they need. I would only advise you to make sure you go to a doctor's office that has been doing Botox for a long time. Don't let your dentist convince you they too are now a Botox expert because they needed to figure out a way to make more money for their practice. They should stick to cleaning you teeth! So be careful because their are a lot of people claiming they can do your Botox, but don't have the training to give you the results you're looking for.
As a side note, I did want to say I'm considering getting Juvederm XC under my eyes. Botox is great, but it doesn't replace lost volume. It only freezes your muscles and prevents the develop of additional/deeper lines.
