Had a Rhinoplasty When I was 16. This is My Experience.
I was bullied for having a large nose ever since I was young- the earliest time I can recall was in 4th grade. After years of being tormented, I elected to get a nose job at the age of 16, which is the youngest age you can have plastic surgery. I had gone to a couple other doctors for a consultation, but I ultimately decided to go with Dr. Patrick Byrne, who is a facial plastic surgeon in Maryland, the state I live in. Dr. Byrne was incredibly helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He has a lot of experience as a rhinoplasty surgeon too.
At my consultation, a staff member took pictures of me and then uploaded them to a computer, and Dr. Byrne proceeded to edit the pictures with me while we discussed what I wanted my future nose to look like. He was very upfront and honest with what he could and could not do to my nose. I believe he normally charges $7050 for the rhinoplasty itself, but since he happened to have a patient who cancelled their rhinoplasty procedure, he offered to reduce the price to $6050 if I chose to have my nose done 9 days after the consultation. I was scared to make such a quick decision, but I took the opportunity and had my nose done 9 days later. The cost of the operating room and general anesthesia totaled $2310, so all together, the procedure was $8360.
I returned to the office a few days later to have some stitches taken out, and then a week later to have the cast removed. I did not have any pain, but did have some swelling and bruising. When the cast was removed, I my nose looked good, but I knew it would look better after a few months.
I am currently 18 (19 in a few days) and it has been almost three years since I had the surgery done. I am incredibly happy with my decision to choose Dr. Byrne, as he gave me exactly what I hoped for! I love my new nose! It's a very different nose from the one I was born with, but I like this one much better! This procedure boosted my confidence in ways that I never could have imagined. I highly recommend Dr. Byrne to anyone who is searching for a cosmetic surgeon for either a primary or revision rhinoplasty in the D.C. area, as he is incredibly professional, his staff is very friendly, and he's a great doctor in every way!
