I Cannot Recommend Microblading Enough
I went to get my brows waxed like I normally do every couple of weeks. I go to Kelly Kreation in Hollidaysburg, PA. They take care of all my beauty services! I told Kelly I was unhappy with the shape of my brows and she took me back into her chair and I left a couple hours later with microbladed brows!
My brows were full and thick before I got the procedure done but they lacked shape. They were very different in shape- I know brows are not supposed to be sisters but mine weren’t even cousins! I knew exactly what I needed- just more filling in the front of my brows to bring them closer together. Kelly mapped them out for me before we even sat down with a blade.
Microblading is basically semi-permanent tattooing of the brows. They use a blade to cut into the 2nd layer of skin and apply pigment. The procedure is supposed to mimic natural brow hairs if done correctly.
Kelly told me it would last 2-3 years, depending on my skin and how oily it gets. The salon has you get the procedure one time and then you come back in 6 weeks after they are fully healed for a touch up. I paid $350 total, including the touch up.
There was no prep from my side for the procedure- I just signed some paperwork stating that I knew what I was doing. When I went into the salon, they applied topical numbing cream that had to sit on my brows for 20-30 minutes. I was numb!
The procedure took about an hour, and it was painful. At first I couldn’t feel much because of the numbing cream. It wore off about half way through and I can’t lie, it hurt! My skin is sensitive and I definitely do have sun damage from spending time in the tanning bed (sadly). It felt like someone was cutting into my skin, which is exactly what was happening. I survived it, but it was definitely the most painful procedure I’ve ever had.
After I was done, my brows looked crazy and dramatic. They looked so dark and extreme but Kelly warned me they would fade. She gave me a gel to apply twice a day.
For the first couple of days, my brows really hurt and were sensitive to touch. I could sleep on them no problem but they were definitely sore. They did scab and peel a decent amount but they almost looked better after they scabbed over. I loved the result so much and I was so happy I did it. I guess when I made the commitment to microblade my eyebrows I did not realize how big of a change it would be and how permanent it is. I seriously loved the result and I don’t know how I didn’t do this earlier.
My 6 week touch up was nothing special. Both brows did fade in those 6 weeks but Kelly went over it again and it looked great. I could wear normal makeup and my only restriction was no direct sunlight for 10 days. I was so happy with the result! Honestly, I cannot recommend this enough to someone who wants to enhance the shape of their brows. The pain was 100% worth it!
