My name is Michelle Venafra. I am 25 years old and I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I decided to have a tummy tuck done because I previously lost eighty pounds rather quickly. In 9 months to be exact. This extremely quick drop in weight did not allow my skin to “bounce back”. I was left with horrible stretch marks and excess skin that I was severely insecure about. Sometimes it was even painful to do some exercises because skin would bounce. I had envisioned a flat stomach, but it was never the case with my excess skin. I tried to accept the “flaws are beautiful” mentality, but I felt as if all my hard work wasn’t worth anything if I was too nervous to even be naked in front of my significant other. I started going to Dr. Blue’s office located in Mooresville, North Carolina for facials and Botox because that’s what I needed at the time. After getting to know Dr. Blue and the office team, I scheduled an abdominoplasty consultation and that made me decide to go ahead and go through with the tummy tuck procedure. I was nervous, but more excited for a new body and more confidence. I am still so young, and did not want excess skin holding me back from feeling sexy.

I paid $5,500 for this procedure. I had no liposuction, just an abdominoplasty. Directly after the surgery, I was extremely depressed because I could not do much. This is very common for many patients after tummy tuck surgery. I am a very active person, so being able to do nothing was hard for me. I thought I’d be right back on my feet doing my day to day things, even though Dr. Blue told me I wouldn’t be able to. I spent a lot of time sleeping. I recorded my whole post-op experience and put it on YouTube (below) to keep the boredom away. After about 1 week I was off pain medication, after 2 weeks there was no more pain, and 3 weeks post-op I was back to work. In 8 weeks, I was back to my normal exercise routine. The only thing I disliked about the procedure was the drains used to remove excess fluid collection. However, they are necessary to help reduce swelling and the risk of infection. I was/am extremely happy with my results. Dr. Blue and the procedure helped my confidence so incredibly much. I now wear a bikini, which I have never done in my life. My scar is fading so nicely, and within the next couple months I doubt it will be very visible at all. I still have some tenderness and/or swelling but that can happen for up to a year as the scar tissue repairs itself. Some people may have some numbness which I did the first couple of months. I can do all activities I was doing previously before the surgery. I would recommend Dr. Blue to anyone who wants to get this procedure done. Dr. Blue also accepts Care Credit, which is an awesome option for people who need financial help to be able to afford the procedure. Dr. Blue is a great doctor, and very informative. So glad I chose to go through my experience with him.
