People ask me why I started receiving Botox Injections and I tell them it was because I was insecure about my forehead lines and crow’s feet around my eyes. Especially when I wore makeup, I felt like foundation and concealer settled into those lines, enhanced them, and I hated it. I was in the sun a lot, used tanning beds in my early twenties and wasn’t always good about taking care of my skin the way I should have been. Unfortunately, fine lines and wrinkles were the result of that.
What were my feelings and emotions throughout my Botox procedure? Depending on the injection site area, there were definitely different levels of pain. When I got injected in my forehead, specifically towards the top near my hairline, I literally felt nothing. The further down on my forehead, I started to feel it, but it wasn’t painful. In-between my eyes, where the “eleven lines” are, those were quick little pinches. And around my eyes and crow’s feet is where the worst pain was, because that area is so sensitive. Not unbearable pain, but that was where the most pain was. I never experienced any swelling or bruising. My face just felt a little sore for maybe a day at the injection sites.
It took about a week for the results to kick in, and once they did, I was hooked! Not only did the Botox freeze the muscles in my face and prevent them from moving, but I noticed that it also gave my face and forehead a smoother and softer appearance. My makeup went on a lot nicer and smoother, and I just felt better about my skin and overall appearance. The Botox seemed to have softened my existing fine lines and wrinkles and made them hardly noticeable! I couldn’t believe it.
Overall thoughts: Botox is hands down one of my favorite and most life changing procedures to have done, my only regret is that I hadn’t started doing it sooner. I know a lot of women (and men!) start doing it in their early 20’s as a preventative before they even develop ANY fine lines, and I wish that’s what I had done. Although the results only lasted about three months for me, I usually go every four months and have it redone. It’s something you definitely have to keep up with. Other than that, I am so happy with the results I have gotten from using Botox and will continue to get it done!
