Invisalign Was Definitely Worth It
Wanting straight teeth without train tracks for a long period of time? Whatever your reason, Invisalign is the best way to go.
I was around 15 years old when I started looking into the option. I always wanted to fix my teeth, but being in high school I didn't want braces, which is where Invisalign came into the picture.
I had a very pleasant experience with Medland Orthodontics in Benowa QLD. The reception ladies always greeted me with a big smile and made me feel welcome.
The price of $ 8400.00 at this clinic was definitely worth it. With train tracks quoted at just under $7000, this made it seem worth the extra investment. Choosing Invisalign has brought me such confidence even whilst going through the treatment and ultimately a better smile.
The best part is that if you have a formal or special event like I did you can take them out for the night and put them back in after. Having the option of taking them out for a few hours is such a great advantage, but always remember you have to make up for lost time. For example if you take them out for 3 hours you have to add 3 hours to your time with those aligners before changing to the next.
The appearance is also amazing. Being clear no one notices and you can smile with confidence compared to metal tracks all over your teeth. I would say 99% of people never really noticed I was wearing them unless they were very close.
The one thing that probably annoyed me the most was having to take them out to eat. It was a little awkward being at lunch with friends and having to take your aligners out. Going through this makes me realise I don't really care what other people are thinking at the time, as long as I am getting straight teeth that’s all I care about! My best advice to handle this is when out in public go into the bathroom before you eat and remove in private until you are comfortable.
When you first get them put on they can feel a little uncomfortable and weird in your mouth. Do not worry! This is totally normal, your mouth is just getting used to them. Within a couple of days or week you will feel normal again.
Now let's talk about that lisp everyone seems to be worried about. It was one of my biggest concerns before getting mine put on. I'm not going to lie for a few weeks I did have a slight lisp as my tongue was trying to adjust to the aligners. It does get better! You just have to push through and you will get used to it.
Near the end of my treatment I would forget I was even wearing them. My treatment went for around a year and a half so with that I had about 30 aligners. I was told to wear each one for 2 weeks and then switch onto the next. This can vary from person to person. You may also be asked to wear bands with the aligners. The staff at Medland were always very helpful in showing me how to use them and put them on. It can be a little stressful at the start but after about a week I was a pro.
Overall any bit of pain or discomfort I felt in the beginning was definitely worth it as the results are life changing. Starting with such crowded crooked teeth and to now be almost perfectly straight is such a big difference that has brought me happiness.
