The first time I got Juvederm, I was 20 years old. I had been thinking about hyaluronic lip fillers for a while, but I was always too nervous to take the first step. My top lip has always been significantly smaller than my bottom lip, and I felt uncomfortable wearing sheer lipsticks/tinted balms. I started Googling places in San Diego that did dermal fillers, but I was not 100% sold on any of the businesses I saw. Then, I stumbled upon Revive Salon and Spa (It was a recommendation from a friend). She specifically told me that Mary Eichert, a nurse practitioner, was amazing, and that I should book her. I called April 2016, and booked an appointment for May.
I was very nervous on the drive there, but the moment I arrived at Revive Salon, I was instantly relaxed. The inside of the Spa is well decorated and clean. I met with Mary 5 minutes after I checked in. We talked about my goals, and how I wanted my lips to look. We settled on 1 syringe of Juvederm in my top lip only. She applied numbing cream to my lip and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. I started sweating when I saw the needle in her hands, but I could barely feel anything when it touched the injection site. Mary's injection technique was excellent.
We ended up only using about .8 CC of the syringe. I was shocked when I walked up to the mirror for the first time. It looked like me, but a better version. It felt like these are the lips I should have been born with. Mary kept the other .2 CC so I could come back in 2 weeks and get a touch up (I ended up coming back about 1 month later). I was so thrilled with my new lips. Mary gave me an ice pack, and walked us back to a private receptionist room so I could pay. My lips did swell a lot the morning after I got them done. The swelling lasted 3-4 days, and it was a little embarrassing, but worth it.
I’m now 21 years old, and I have had 3 total syringes of Juvederm injected in my lips. The latter 2 syringes I had put into my top and bottom lip, instead of just my top. I go back roughly every 6-7 months to get them redone. I don’t like to let all the filler dissipate before I get a new syringe - It’s usually better if you put new filler on top of old filler, because it helps it last longer.
Overall I love Juvederm and Revive Salon and Spa. I am so much more confident with a bigger top lip. It really balances my face out. There really is no pain in the procedure, besides the 2-3 days of healing time. I don’t think I will stop getting Juvederm any time soon. I really love how it enhances my lips.
