I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I was 101 kilos (~222 lbs.) at my heaviest and now at 60 kilos (132 lbs.). Everything I owned had sleeves prior to my arm lift surgery. I hated the sight of my arms. I would get physically sick looking at them in the mirror and it took a huge emotional toll on me. I wanted my upper arms to look normal, so that I could enjoy life and wear what I wanted to wear. This is why I ultimately decided to get a brachioplasty.

For my surgery, I went to Dr. Jeremy Hunt. Dr. Hunt is a plastic surgeon here in Australia. I knew from the moment I met him at the consultation that I was going to pick him. Dr. Hunt was incredibly warm, very friendly and he has great mannerisms. He understood the frustrations I had with my arms and told me that it was very common for patients who had experienced massive weight loss to have an arm lift procedure to remove what he called 'a reminder of a patient's old body.' He was so right. I was reminded of how heavy I once was every time I looked in the mirror. I wanted to have my surgery last week with Dr. Hunt. He was that incredible.

Leading up to my surgery, I had told some of my friends and family that I was having surgery to remove the excess skin on my arms. Most of them did not understand why I needed this because I had covered up my arms for nearly 20 years. I did not leave my house without wearing a cardigan or long sleeve shirt. I didn't even own any sleeveless shirts. This is how much my loose skin had effected me.

My surgery was done under general anesthesia and my brachioplasty was performed in combination with liposuction. Liposuction removed my excess fat and the brachiplasty removed my excess skin.

The surgery and my recovery went fine. I felt more sore than pain during my recovery period. I also had to be careful not to rip the sutures out of my arm. Besides that, all was well.

It's now been almost 3 years since my surgery and I can't recommend brachioplasty surgery highly enough. My arm skin now looks great and I now have no problem showing off my arms. I have waited my entire life to be happy with my body image and now I finally am. Half of my wardrobe now contains sleeveless shirts. This has been such a life changing surgery. It's so overwhelming to finally not have bat wings. I feel like this procedure not only removed a physical weight but also an emotional one. This was the best money I've spent in my entire life. I would spend 20 times what I spent to do this all over again. Dr. Hunt was so wonderful during my entire journey too. I just wish I knew him 15 years earlier because then I would have never waited so long.
